Trades & Services
A fill-in cover letter template for a welder position, built from CVPosh's own job data. It is not a real person's letter and makes no promise about interviews. Replace the placeholders with your real experience.
Use this template as your starting point. Replace everything in [brackets] with your own information:
The opening of your welder cover letter must grab attention immediately. Avoid generic openers like “I am applying for...”
Strong opening (placeholder numbers):
“After leading a team that grew welding output by [X%] at [Company], I was excited to see [Company Name]'s opening for a Welder. Your focus on [specific company initiative] aligns with the work I've been doing for the past [X years].”
Weak opening to avoid:
“I am writing to apply for the Welder position I saw posted on your website. I believe I am a strong candidate...”
Demonstrate your command of key skills like MIG welding, TIG welding, Stick welding. Use specific examples rather than vague claims. Hiring managers for welder roles want evidence, not assertions.
Where you have real numbers, use them. Instead of “improved performance”, say by how much, but never invent a figure.
Attention to detail and physical stamina are often listed for trades & services roles in our job data. Show these through brief stories, not just adjective lists.
Your closing paragraph should do three things: reiterate your fit, show enthusiasm, and make a specific ask.
List relevant licenses, certifications, and code knowledge prominently.
Emphasize safety record and compliance with industry regulations.
Highlight experience with specific equipment and techniques.
Show reliability and customer service focus.
Mention any specializations or advanced training.
